Ok, I'm not embarrassed to admit it–I will always be a child-at-heart, and I'm proud of it. This wonderful little faerie door (and it works) is a gift from Mimi Glavin, creator and owner of
The Playful Garden in Napa, California. The door is situated over a hole at the base of our old pepper tree. Imagine the surprise of my grands when they visit and find this miniature world.

I have had one of those for years with a little mailbox included! Don't you love it! I have a window as well on the side that makes it look like there is a little light on inside. It's too funny. Ahhhh...the gift of imagination ;)
I put out a tiny table and chairs, but oh my! I love the little door! How wonderful... and yes your grands will be delighted.

Oh Sharon!! Just lovely! I have the perfect old ancient apple tree out back with a hole....gosh I NEED a fairy door and didn't even know it! I have little willow chairs and broken stepping stones...gosh..I am off to the garden!! YOu always inspire me!!!!!

I awoke this rainy (YEAH!, so peaceful) morning with these wonderful and affirming comments from other children-at-heart. Hurrah! Also, lots of personal e-mails that told me great stories about their little play areas, or the areas they are now going to create. I love this.

I think this is CHARMING! There is a lavender farm not far from where I live, and they have the sweetest fairy garden, complete with a mini stone castle! ;)

As I speak, I have my veranda table full of items waiting eagerly to be turned into a fairy house. My goal is to create the same fairy house in the movie "Fairytale a true story"..I am just so excited. (I entered into a swap with Missy from http://fairychildheirlooms.wordpress.com She does wonderful fairy swaps. ) I have so many gorgeous treasures from the swap to use. If I were a child (which I know I am a little too often...~) Your Pepper tree would be my favorite place....
I am happy you like our Sunflower house. The energy in our Sunny orchard is out of this World. You must have been so inspired to have written such heavenly books.

Dearest Sharon, thanks for your lovely comments - am just about to e-mail you too, but wanted to say how I love this little door! We did some work in our home a few years ago & took out a lovely old half-glazed door that we didn't want to lose..so Paul had the idea of fixing it to our garden wall! It now has ivy tendrils growing over it and looks (as intended) as though it's the door to a secret garden! My niece & nephews loved it when they saw it and made up lots of stories about what could lie behind it....! Gorgeous idea to have a tiny one too! xoxo Rachel

I've been working like a fiend in my gardens and our house sitters and my son will care for things while we are away. Getting ready for a Country Gardens photo shoot here in May. I'll give you some sneak peaks when we finish our stone work (we're doing it and we have 3,700 pounds to lay.
My next posting will probably be from our beloved Fox Drink Ledges-our small seaside cottage in Maine.
We're looking forward to using our new stone fireplace for the first time. We'll need it too because the cottage is a summer place and it gets coooold inside off season.

Napa Valley would be beautiful right now. My family, on both my Mom and Dad's sides, were from Napa. I miss the summers of my childhood there on the Ranch. It makes my heart ache to think about it.
The little fairy house is so cute. Your grandchildren will love playing with the little creatures that live there.

I have started to write this three times..and each time I had to start over. I believe I have written to you before about my love of visiting Hearts Ease in Cambria. I am certain it was you behind the counter..
Then when I came on to my blog just now I saw you had chosen to follow me and I cannot express the feelings that swept over me. It's an emotional experience for me to see you up there. It's almost more than I can express to you.

How sweet! My granddaughter is a bit young to enjoy that concept now, but I'm sure when she gets older she will.
